Friday Funnies
Hilarious tongue in cheek illustration of the good ole US of A found on Pinterest. No luck finding the original genius who created this, please help me source it if you know. Don’t worry, there is equal opportunity teasing here, which really is hysterical. Please note my home state, South Carolina!

So much to catch up on, but I have decided that I am just going to jump right back in and not dwell on how long it’s been! To say Bon Vivant has been busy is a wild understatement, and for that I am thrilled! Thank you all so much for your unbelievable support! Check out our Christmas selection, would love to help you design a truly unique custom holiday card, or pick one that I have already designed and add your photograph and season’s greetings. Hoping you’re getting into the season… it has snuck up on us, hasn’t it?? I promise it will be soon when we speak again.
Bonne nuit mes amis!
Perfect post for a day when I’m heading north! Enjoy the end of your vacations, people, the kiddos are going back to school and there’s a twinge of Fall in the air… before you know it, it’ll be football time, which of course here in the South is an entire “season” to itself.
These cards are perfect for just about anyone, as we all fall on one side of the fence or the other. Shoot me an email if you’d like a set as a gift, or even better for yourself, hello@bonvivantstyle.com. Can be personalized with your address, name, or your own favorite expression. These also look excellent on kraft paper!
I’ll be enjoying temps in the 70’s for the next week or so and 50’s at night- thankfully the mountains are one of my greatest places of inspiration, so paints, paintbrushes, and my gorgeous, textured watercolor papers are all packed (Rives BFK 250 gram weight mouldmade in France is delicious and Arches 140 lb cold press made from 100% cotton is a favorite) as well as the handy dandy Macbook Pro, on which creativity abounds! I always look forward to what comes out of my time there, and can’t wait to share it with you.
I will post more on this later, but my most humble and sincere gratitude goes out to the many, many friends and family members who made the Bon Vivant debut last week a smashing success! I have been so busy filling orders and coming up with custom designs for customers that I have not been able to post a full recap. Here is a link to the Blue Chickadee Blog by my very dear friend Way Way Allen, where she does a wonderful job summing it up! I have a full post in the making which I will put up next week… while hopefully looking out some kind of lake or summit under blue skies, light breeze optional but preferred.
Au revoir!

Embarking on a journey
Well, I leapt, and so far there seems to be a net appearing, but I can’t yet tell. Isn’t that part of the adventure? Welcome to the Bon Vivant blog. If you’re here, you’ve either stumbled upon my little internet home, (unlikely) or you’re a family member or friend who is supportive, a little curious, or bored at work (highly likely). Any and all of the above are acceptable here, so poke around a little and stay a while.
This blog will be the combination of an inspiration board and documentation of my creative process as I draw and paint to create beautiful paper and products. Please come visit often. I have recently jumped off the metaphorical cliff and am flying through midair on the way to my new venture, one that I am so excited to share with you. Bon Vivant, [i.e. ‘Good Living’] is my new business, and for those of you wondering why I have been posting on Facebook more than usual at 4:30 in the morning, well… here you have it. This is what has taken every. waking. second. of my life for the past few months as I pour my creative self into shaping something that is already the most rewarding professional journey I have ever taken. The challenges, the unknown, the roll-up-your-sleeves-and-figure-it-out aspect to this is right up my alley, and the fact that it is mine, all mine, is truly satisfaction in a word. The ole’ right brain may have been dormant for a while, but thankfully my neglect has not produced atrophy. On the contrary, I have released the creative hounds (see aforementioned lack of sleep) and am hurtling onward, won’t you come with me and laugh at my mistakes, smile at my successes (hopefully!), marvel at the beautiful things the internet helps us see, and at the very least, give you something to do when your Facebook feed reads like your mom’s (Jan Smith: “Going to the store!” 3 minutes ago). *sighs loudly*
I have a lot of people to thank for helping encourage me to pursue this dream, first and foremost my husband Henry, for being the ever listening ear and giving me a little nudge off into the deep end, my family, for always being my cheerleaders and believing in me even more than I did myself, and of course the many friends who have supported me, and Bon Vivant, even before it had a name. I am unable to express adequately what it means to have your unwavering love and friendship. Above all, the Big Guy upstairs, who I talk to so much all day that he is probably sick of hearing about it. Through Him all things are definitely possible.
Hope to be seeing a lot of you! Please like my Facebook page and follow me on Twitter (as I try to figure tweeting out). You, or rather we, will get a kick out of that.
À bientôt!
Liza
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed in the things that you didn’t do that the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain
